By that point, there was no turning back. At the time, her primary goal was to complete her first book, an objective she eventually achieved. She decided to take a serious crack at publishing when her youngest child turned one. She looks at each new novel as the start of a journey that she has to undertake with her characters as she slowly develops the plot.Įven though she wanted to tell stories for a living, Miranda took several detours before finally settling down to write her first novel. Miranda knew that if she stuck with the thrillers, she would eventually make it to the other side.Īs an author, this same mindset has molded Miranda’s approach to writing. Regardless of what happened to her favorite protagonists, every story had a definitive end. The author did not shy away from the dark stories in her mother’s books because the anxiety-inducing journey she had to undertake when she read them was temporary. Miranda’s mother was an avid fan of the thriller genre, and her collection of novels said as much. And yet, she couldn’t get enough of the thriller novels that littered her mother’s shelf. As a child, she was afraid of everything. Megan, who went to MIT, graduating with a BS in Biology, started reading and writing at a young age. She was fascinated by the many mysteries surrounding the brain.
